How to Plan Weddings in the Time of Covid

NEW CONTENT ALERT: How to Plan Weddings in the Time of Covid

When I was watching the fireworks go off at the end of 2019 and toasting to the start of a new decade, I never imagined a world where wearing masks would be commonplace and the phrase ‘social distancing‘ was one that seemed to pop into nearly every conversation.

However, that is now our reality and as such we need to adjust.

There’s no doubt this is a challenging time. But we’re starting to come to terms with the fact that this is the new normal, at least for the next six months or more.

But that doesn’t mean life won’t go on. It will but with some changes.

Weddings are going to look a little bit different for the foreseeable future. And we need to be prepared for that.

Many couples are still choosing to get married and go ahead with their plans but in a different and safer way.

What does this mean for Planners?

As wedding planners you’re at the forefront of these changes. You need to be able to advise your couples on how they can have their dream wedding whilst still adhering to the social distancing guidelines and directives.

A wedding planner’s motto is a bit like the scout’s motto ‘Be Prepared’. In the words of Lord Baden-Powell, “Be prepared for accidents by learning beforehand what you ought to do in the different kinds that are likely to occur. Be prepared to do that thing the moment the accident does occur.”

So what is a socially distanced wedding?

Simply put it’s a ceremony and/or reception that follows the social distancing measures put in place by local or state governments to prevent the further spread of the current Corona Virus.

These measures could include:

  • A restriction on the number of guests
  • Specific seating to allow for guests being a minimum of two metres apart
  • Mandatory sanitizer stations
  • Compulsory face masks.

Planning weddings during the time of Covid

At the Wedding Academy our job is to make sure that our students and graduates are prepared for any and every eventuality, just like the Scouts.

And that’s what we’ve done. Only we’ve not done it on our own. We’ve turned to the experts to help us.

We’ve collaborated with two professional planners at the top of their game.

They’ve compiled the best practices, tips and advice from two professional planners at the top of their game.

Together they’ve created a four-part masterclass on ‘Planning Weddings During the Time of Covid‘. This includes their working knowledge during this time, best practices, tips and expert advice.

They’ve left nothing to chance. Absolutely everything you need to know when it comes to planning socially distanced weddings has been covered.
