WOULD YOU LOVE TO WORK IN WEDDINGS? TAKE OUR QUIZ TO SEE IF YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES
Can I still start a wedding business in a pandemic?

Can I still start a wedding business in a pandemic?

The question of ‘Can I Start a Wedding Business in a Pandemic?’ is one we’re hearing here at the Wedding Academy EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

The short answer to this question is…absolutely. Yes you can.

But now for the longer answer…

It’s no secret that the wedding industry, like so many others at this time, has suffered.

Weddings have been cancelled or postponed and things are completely up in the air.

Dependent on where in the world you are weddings may have have been stopped completely, they might be happening but with big restrictions or maybe they’re simply going forward as normal.

Is this a completely horrible time at the moment in the wedding industry when so many wedding pros should be full throttle into wedding season? Yes it is.

Are some businesses struggling at the moment? Unfortunately, yes they are.

Are people nervous about the future? Of course, it’s only natural. I’ve been in business for over 20 years and I’m nervous too.

However…

Let’s put this into perspective.

Firstly, pandemics like this don’t happen all the time. The last pandemic to really rival Covid 19 was in 1918, the influenza pandemic. It infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million victims

My point being this isn’t a regular occurence. Life has to go on and we owe it to ourselves to do what we can. To have the life and career we want.

Secondly, people won’t stop getting married.

Weddings might look a bit different for the next 12 months or so but they won’t stop permanently.

A wedding is a reason to rejoice in everything that’s good in the world and that’s something we all need right now. And will continue to need.

The big thing to remember here…A business isn’t built in a couple of weeks.

A business that’s financially viable with a strong foundation is built over a number of months not weeks.

We have many students at the Wedding Academy who started their course, and their business, 12 months ago. They’ve worked hard on getting those all important foundations in place.

And the best bit…quite a few of them are booking new clients even during this pandemic.

This is the time to focus on building your business. Learn. Implement. Launch.

As you’re learning and implementing your wedding business can be your side hustle until you’re ready to go full time.

Right now is the time to put in the hard work. Get it right the first time around so you’re ready to hit the ground running in either 2021 or 2022.

The wedding industry isn’t going anywhere. Weddings will happen again around the world and you need to be ready for when they do.

Realistically, you won’t be up running for the first part of the 2021 wedding season. It takes a good 12 months to be ‘client ready‘ as a new Wedding Planner.

Now is the time to build that dream business and be ready for when the wedding industry comes back into it’s full creative self.

I want you to imagine yourself a year from today. Where will you be?

Will you be getting ready to work your first wedding? Or will you still be where you are now – just dreaming about it.

I told you it was a long answer to your question but I think it’s important to break things down.

I’m sure you’ve been thinking, well what would I do if a pandemic came along?

Knowing how to pivot when necessary is crucial…

In any type of business you need to have back up plans and know how to pivot.

In the wedding industry that means being able to adapt your services to make them relevant during this Covid 19 period.

You need to know how to plan weddings that are deemed socially safe and adhere to the rules and regulations in your region.

Right now, wedding planners are focusing on promoting new packages that help couples right now. They’re highlight elopements, staycation weddings, destination weddings and micro, petite and intimate weddings.

But how do you do that?

At the Wedding Academy we’re currently putting the finishing touches on a brand new module called Planning a Socially Safe Wedding.

We’re also launching a new course, The Certificate in Elopements, Destination and Intimate Weddings. This will be available from September.

We’re doing everything to make sure you’re equipped with what you need moving forward to allow you to pivot your business where necessary.

You have a chance to become part of one of the most creative industries so take that chance but don’t take the short cuts.

Spend the time getting it right. Do it properly and then you’ll have some of the same success stories to post on our private Student Facebook Group as the ones below.

And don’t forget to register for our FREE 4 Days Wedding Business Bootcamp. It’s held online in a special pop-up Facebook Group where we invite you into our world and show you just what’s possible.
