How do you start your own wedding planning business?

This is a question we hear all the time. How do you start your own wedding planning business?

When we dig a bit deeper we hear things like…

“I’ve got a logo for my business.”

“I’ve picked the perfect name so I’m ready to start.”

“I’ve started an Instagram Page and it looks amazing.”

But what do you do next?

That initial excitement of seeing this dream of yours come together is starting to wane because you aren’t actually sure how to take that next step or what you should be doing.

It’s the point where you want to ask for help rather than going it alone but don’t really know who to ask or where to turn.

So many super talented planners and stylists in the making launching their business without a plan or strategy.

The problem is that having a successful wedding business is about so much more than a pretty logo.

It’s more than having the perfect business name or stunning Instagram feed too.

Being in business is like having a baby. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, hurts like hell and feels like a never-ending uphill battle.

But it doesn’t have to be like that. There’s light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

So much of the success of your wedding business rests on two things, knowledge and support.

Get the Knowledge

Think of it like this.

Would you become a hairdresser without any training and risk perming someone’s hair so they looked like a poodle?

Would you start a law firm and dispense advice without any knowledge of law or practice in court?

I’m guessing you wouldn’t.

So why would you launch a wedding business on nothing more than a dream?

At the Wedding Academy we LOVE the fact you have a dream and we want to help you turn that dream into a reality.

But…

And this is a big but, you need to know the business side of being in business.

You absolutely have to discover the ‘why’ behind what you do that you can share with your potential clients so they simply can’t resist what you have to offer.

Here’s the best bit, once you know the why behind what you do the ‘what‘ and the ‘how‘ become so much easier.

Simon Sinek, an inspirational speaker and author, has an amazing Ted Talk called ‘Start with Why‘ and it’s so relevant to the wedding industry.

I love this quote from him. “People don’t buy what you do they buy why you do it.”

Knowing who your ideal clients are is key, not to mention understanding your niche.

Not sure what a niche is? This blog post ‘Finding Your Niche as a Wedding Planner‘ will definitely help.

Find Your Support Network

The other side to it is support, community and teamwork.

Behind every great Wedding CEO is a team of supporters behind her cheering her on from the side lines, picking her up when she falls, and ultimately giving her the advice she needs to succeed.

Being a solopreneur doesn’t mean going it alone.

As the CEO of the Wedding Academy I’ve been in business for over twenty years and the two biggest reasons for my longevity and success have been down to knowledge and support.

Even now I still have a business coach who I run everything past because she has knowledge where I don’t. It’s hands down one of my best and most important investments.

Just last year I signed up for four courses covering social media, marketing, webinars and copywriting. All these things are crucial to my business success.

I know I can’t do it alone. I need someone to bounce my ideas off and I need those experts in their own areas to help me continue to move the Wedding Academy forward.

Let us help you to do the same. We’ve helped 6,000+ worldwide to launch their business the right way.

At the Wedding Academy we give you a comprehensive, step-by-step blueprint that leaves nothing to the imagination to ensure you don’t make costly mistakes.
