Student Wedding Designer Rebecca

I am always excited to see students pushing themselves to apply the skills and knowledge they are gaining in the course to practical tasks.  This can be in the form of work experience, or a casual job, but it can also be more ‘informal’.  Your child’s birthday party, Christmas lunch, or a cocktail party for friends, are all opportunities for you to practice planning an event, designing a concept for it and styling the look.  Just as professionals participate in Styled Shoots for experience and to produce images they can share, you can do the same and that is what Student Wedding Designer Rebecca has done here.  Rebecca has designed and styled two tables primarily for the opportunity of doing so.  She has been resourceful in choosing a location and styling objects and gained some fabulous experience along the way to creating these really lovely tables.
Gypsy Summer
Rebecca:   “I was inspired by the changing of the seasons for this style. The warmer weather, seeing the fruit ripen and the vibrant colours made it feel like, goodbye to winter and hello spring and summer.”

Nature Love
Rebecca:  “This was more a tablscape display if you were having a garden or country inspired themed event. It could be used for a dessert station or drink station.  Styling is something I really and enjoy and would like to get more experienced in. In the future I am hoping to collaborate with a photographer to be able to showcase my ideas more vividly.”

Rebecca is still working on her course but I wanted to know, what she feels she has learnt so far and what she has planned for her future:
Rebecca:  “Within the course I have learnt that you can turn a simple concept into something more. You can dream bigger and try to be as creative as you want. The course has allowed me to work with trending colours and styles. I no longer look at a table and see a table, I look for textures, patterns, colour and uniqueness.
I look forward to starting my own hiring and styling business. The course is helping me work towards this goal, it has help me to identify what areas I want to venture out in, how to be focused and organised and has opened my eyes up to the possibilities of making my business a reality. The help and support I have received throughout the course is wonderful, listening to the podcasts, all the information is detailed and current. Learning about the different aspects that make up an event from the food, to the music, to entertainment has made me acknowledge how much work is involved. It has improved my researching skills and made me more confidant in regards to seeking, meeting and building relationships with vendors. I am loving that I get to try new things, make an event beautiful and fun and turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.”

Thank you so much for sharing your work with us Rebecca!  I look forward to seeing you realise your dream of launching your own hire and styling business.
