This month I am enjoying showing you a glimpse into part of my world, the part where I get to spend time with our students and be taken on a creative journey with them, as they make their way through their chosen course.  Being their Tutor is a real privilege and I find myself constantly inspired by our students and their creativity.  Last week we met Student Wedding Designer Rebecca and this week we are taking a closer look at the work of Renay Beard.

Renay:  “I am currently studying for a Diploma in Wedding, Planning, Styling and Design.  The course so far has helped me dive deeper into my love and passion for weddings. It has given me a clearer vision as to what my niche would be – which funnily enough is completely different to what I envisioned before starting the course.  Something I particularly enjoy is that I have the flexibility to take my studies with me wherever I go.  I still have so much to learn and develop in my knowledge and skills but I very much look forward to what lies ahead within my study and beyond.”

Renay’s comment about being able to take her study with her anywhere is one I was particularly happy to hear. I think this is a huge benefit of our course and something I focussed on sharing in the styled shoot I did for the Academy recently. You will hear more about that over the coming months and see the results as we update our site with the images from that shoot.  But it is important point to keep in mind, especially if you are busy.  Being able to grab 5 or 10 minutes study time on a train on the way to work, at lunch time, or whilst the kids have a nap, could be the difference between you completing a course and not being able to do one at all.  We see this as a real plus when it comes to the benefits of studying with us.

Renay has kindly shared three inspiration boards with us today.  Each was designed as part of her course work for the ‘Colour Schemes and Effects’ module of the Wedding Planing Styling and Design course she is completing.  This module is part of the ‘Theory of Design’ section, which also includes a module covering ‘Design & Decor Techniques’. We have a number of really creative activities for students in this section of the course, including working on a case study featuring the Pantone Colour of the Year.  Currently this is Radiant Orchid but that will soon change when Pantone announce the 2015 Colour of the Year next month. The unit is fabulous for seeing how colour can inspire a whole concept for a wedding or special event.  Renay’s boards show off her professional presentation and eye for colour and balance in how she has displayed each image.  Each clearly communicates the style she is working with, which is so important when using boards to share ideas with clients.  Thanks so much for sharing your lovely work Renay and we look forward to seeing more of it over the coming months as you continue to work on your course.
