What does your Wedding Business Website Need

As we are fast approaching the end of the year we now only have one #WedBizHour Twitter chat left to go and last night we decided to chat about things you need to consider when building a website for your wedding business. The new year is often the time people think about re-branding or launching a new business so these tips taken from last night’s chat should prove useful. As usual to read the full Transcript you can download it from our site:

  1. Your URL is important so give some thought to the domain name you use and make sure it is available across your chosen social media channels.
  2. You need a road map for your website. This is helpful not only for user experience but also from an SEO point of view. Google considers the content & structure of a site when it ranks for search.
  3. Keep text to a minimum. Nobody wants to read reams of text they want to skim it instead. Bullet points are your friend here because you can make your point easily and it will stand out to your customer.
  4. Testimonials are your friend. Given the fact that we work in the service industry your potential clients want to know about the service you give so keep your testimonials relevant and up to date.
  5. Get an email address to go with your domain name. Using a Gmail address doesn’t cut it and it looks very unprofessional.
  6. Don’t try and be clever with your page names. Keep them simple and obvious so people know what they are.
  7. Have a powerful call-to-action. Think about what you want people to do whilst being on your site and make sure you get them to do it by giving them a helping hand. Tell them what to do next.
  8. If you use social media make sure the widgets are easy to find and very visible on your site. Integrating social media on your website is powerful for SEO and it will help drive traffic.
  9. Make sure your site is responsive. Smartphones & tablet account for a lot of web traffic so make sure your site is mobile friendly.
  10. Make it easy for people to contact you. How many times have you visited a website only to be really frustrated because you can’t find a phone number or email address? It makes people suspicious and more often then not they loose interest and leave.

#WedBizHour is open to everyone and happens every Tuesday evening from 8-9pm GMT. Our last chat of the year is December 15 and we return again on January 5.
